April Desktop

My April desktop. The wallpaper reminds me of my unexpected visit to Darwin, a ghost town in the desert near Death Valley. The feeling of walking into a town that was once full of life but now is only inhabited by the elements and history is quite powerful.

My March desktop. I decided to call it “Requiem” because of the wallpaper and color scheme and thought that this name would be cool. =D

Last week I announced that I have been working on a Oxygen theme for WinRAR. Although I predicted last week that I may finish the theme in a few days, I have been delayed. For this, I apologize. :D

However, this theme is now complete. It is a 48×48 px WinRAR theme. Again, the icons are by KDE and the theme is simply a compilation of the icons into a WinRAR theme.

Please go here to download.

Apparently I overestimated the time needed to complete the Oxygen theme for WinRAR. I have already completed adding nearly all of the icons to the theme. Here is what it looks like as of now:

The RAR file icons look like this:

194

Now, I just need to do some minor tweaking and then make sure everything is well. This means that you can be looking at the first release in the next few days. So stay tuned.

p.s. this also means that I will create yet another category: Customization.

For quite a while, I have been amazed by the beauty of the icons and artwork of the Oxygen Project. Although I know that it is not complete, I am quite dismayed that there is not yet an effort to port Oxygen to Windows. Thus I am going to take initiative and begin to port Oxygen to Windows. While my system resource hacking skills are still rudimentary, I will begin by creating a Oxygen icon theme for the archiver program WinRAR. I have so far finished the icons on the toolbar:

188

I will now need to find out how to convert PNG image files into Windows icon files in order to complete the theme.

After this theme, I plan to modify simpler programs first such as Notepad before diving into modding the more crucial resource files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
