I remember a year ago, the MySpace phenomenon was at its apex. ALL of my friends were trying to goad me into creating a MySpace profile, make it look pretty, and everything. Back then, EVERYONE was using MySpace. Someone even suggested that “MySpacing” should be the American Pastime.
Well, now after the whole social networking sector of Web 2.0 took off, it seems that MySpace is losing its almighty iPod-like glory. Recently, I have been receiving an all-too-familiar wave of social engineering to goad me into join Facebook, another social networking giant.
First of all, yes, I have a MySpace. However, I am not at the liberty to provide any form of information regarding my MySpace account due to matters of national security.
Second of all, what is this? I thought that MySpace was the One and Only! Just as Apple iPod is the ULTIMATE….uh…iPod. All other iPods suck when compared to the iPod. Therefore, MySpace should be the ULTIMATE whatever as well!
Well, I guess I should let myself to be socially engineered once more into following another wave of social networking. I’ll see if I can find my ten million “friends” on the Facebook network too.

After much delay, I am finally able to bring you a preview of the in-development Haiku theme for Wordpress. Although you may have already seen three variants on the main site, the Wordpress version will be slightly different. Without further ado, here is the preview of the Haiku theme for Wordpress:
161
Current status of the theme is that all the basic HTML, graphics, and CSS are complete. Now, I need to begin to port it to Wordpress.

Oh sorry… Please don’t be shocked. I overdramaticized the title again.
Well, so what happened to whatever I did in Canada? Well, sorry for the delay. The photos are still there, however, something DID happen to them once…
I was transferring pictures from the camera to the laptop while at the hotel in Toronto when I accidentally carelessly deleted all the folders on the SD card when I did not realize that the focus was in the folder tree pane in Windows Explorer. Well, after a panic attack, I began browsing the web for solutions. There were over 1000 pictures on that 2 GB card and I just deleted all of them when I was trying to delete ONE folder. First of all, good going, David. You’re supposed to transfer ALL of them BEFORE deleting ANYTHING. Second of all, I now had to find a file-recovery application that works for SD cards and will be able to recover all the photos I had just deleted. (Oh, for those of you wondering, when you delete stuff from a device like a memory card or flash drive, it usually gets DELETED, not sent to the recycle bin.)
Well, at around 3 AM local time I was finally able to recover all (plus somehow a few from years past) of the photos and mundanely transferred them and created two backups.
Anyway, like I was saying. The photos are still here. I have been so busy with working on blog migration that I have not had a chance to upload anything new to my photography gallery or DeviantART yet. But I will eventually, so stay tuned!

Surprisingly, we designers do.
Well, somehow I became impressed with Apple’s design work and I have changed the typeface of the main site to a Lucida Grande-wannabe font and cleaned up some of the CSS while I was at it.
Well, its not too much of a difference. Tell me what you think though.

Up until now, the link to my blog has been to my old blog. I have just changed that link so that it links here instead. My old blog will still be there, for now. However, the new one will be the main one in use from now on.

Apparently the Admin Control Panel can be themed too.
I just installed the Spotmilk theme as well as Tiger for the admin panel. Both are a huge aesthetic improvement over the default theme although Tiger didn’t work quite well for the AJAX elements, namely widget controls. For now I’ll stay with Spotmilk with Blackmilk enabled.
Although you cant really see it (sorry!), I might post a few screenshots later.

edit: well, you can see the change somewhat. If you click login (ONLY TO SEE THE NEW THEME), you can see that the colors have changed at the login. The default was the blue box on a white background.

Let’s go on a journey far from home,
together we travel, not alone.
Across the ocean far away
to reach paradise someday.
I want to be somewhere far.
I want to reach and touch the stars
as we sail into sapphire seas
on a silver ship of dreams.
Fireworks in the heavens gray
fly ahead to light the way.
As the day turns into night,
the heavens again alight.
Another night, another day,
will again pass just the same.
But somewhere out there, somewhere ahead,
a new day will rise instead.
And whatever our destiny, our fate,
life will be truly worth the wait.

Midnight run
Towards the steel glow
of concrete walls
weary but tirelessly waiting
for eventual departure.
City lights
blur past like shooting stars
in orange, white, yellow
bidding bittersweet farewell
to yesterday.
Manmade day
soon relinquishes
to a genuine night
to the lonely roads ahead
to a traveler’s world.

From the point when I created my blog, I have not checked for any updates for Wordpress, Gallery2, or the WPG2 bridge. Now that several new versions have come out, I have found that I needed an upgrade.
Instead of upgrading from 2.0.4 to the latest WP version 2.2 manually, I have decided to try to avoid any possible complications involved with manual upgrade and simply create a new installation and then embark upon the meticulous task of manually porting posts, comments, and galleries.
So far, the core programs and modules have been installed as well as a temporary theme though currently the old blog is still linked to the main site. After the migration is complete, a redirection will be created and I will (finally) begin work on the Haiku theme for the blog.
Meanwhile, there is more to come. Stay tuned.
